Dinagyang Festival in the province of Iloilo was being celebrated every 4th Sunday of January in honor of the Sto. Nino. It was also hailed by the Philippine Department of Tourism as the best tourism event for the years 2006-2008, thus making it a hall of famer.
This year’s Dinagyang (2010) was my first experience of the festival. I was born in the neighboring province of Iloilo but had missed the chance to witness or rather join the festival in its previous celebrations. Together with 3 other colleagues from work, we booked our flight and our accommodation as early as October of 2009. We booked early as advised by friends who are from Iloilo.
The Dinagyang parade was so enjoyable, the tribes are so admirable, despite the heat and the crowd, we can see that they are happy as they perform. The tribes’ grandest costumes and props are indeed amazing.

Good thing for us that despite the heat of the sun we have a refreshing drink with us…

And huh..!?! Real Leaf Green Tea supports Dinagyang Festival, what a very good cause to support our Country’s tourism.

And here, caught in the middle of the parade…thirst quencher!

And here is DAGOY, the Festival’s official mascot, he’s so cute!

Lou Franz is a former officemate of mine, a very charming and kind person. When we visited their beach resort in Tigbauan, Iloilo, he’s so accommodating that he didnt showed up =D (he’s so busy that time) but his father has been so hospitable, that we feel sooo welcome! Thanks father!
I am with the whole Tuvillo family plus the extensions (gf’s of siblings) and its a Sunday, after attending the Holy Mass, we geared up for the outing! The resort is simple but very clean, nothing to expect much of but is good enough! As for the rates, i have no idea, but if some readers here were interested to know, i can get it for you =)

I was born in Antique, a province near Iloilo.. so its not new to me to visit the place.. but this time is different, i am coming to Iloilo to visit my boyfriend’s family (namanhikan po ako )*wink*
I will not dwell on my acquaintance with his family – it turned out okay – but in the beauty of the places and structures that we visited while we were there.
On the very day of our arrival, we just checked in our bagages (take note, bagages! hehe) at SM City – Iloilo, then proceeded to UP Campus in Iloilo City, UP has two campuses in Iloilo, one in the city and the other in Miag-ao. Why bother visit UP, well, that’s his alma mater, so proud to show it to me.
Next stop was the Molo Church, which patron saint is St. Anne, the mother of Mama Mary. The church still has the colonial touch (Spanish style pulpit), like the one you also see in San Agustin Church in Intramuros. We then travelled to see the Jaro Cathedral, from which resides the stone image of Our Lady of Candles and said to be getting bigger in years.
