For The First Time – my review

For the first time, I will openly criticize a movie from star cinema…

I always admire Star Cinema for producing quality local movies. And as much as possible, I watch them. There would be times that I feel unsatisfied with the movie, but still there will be reasons to make it worth my time and money… until for the first time, I watched For the First Time starring KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez.

I was with somebody and we watched at Greenbelt one, that is a Saturday and the 4th screening day of the movie, the time was around 7 pm, when we entered the moviehouse, its not a surprise to us that very few moviegoers were present – a little less of the ¼ of the theater’s capacity – as it was a Saturday night, and usually weekends in Greenbelt theaters are not too populated, compared to weeknights. We were excited, as the promotion for the movie has been so huge that viewers will find it enticing to see the movie… and this rant began…

This observation is purely personal and not for anything else, I just want to share my feelings…

Firstly, I was so excited to see the movie and since it’s a big tandem, was expecting a good story, if not better; sadly, the story is not good at all… I hated the scriptwriter then.

Secondly, since it is produced by Star Cinema, i am expecting, that the cinematography if that’s what they call it, is as usual, the best, but in this movie, oh my! There are lots of scenes that were out of focus, so many blurs…

And.. I hate to say lastly, as this is not, but I cannot itemize everything here so this is, at least, the last… its KC, I think she’s over acting in the movie, that goes also with the director, as she has the control, she could have notice it in the first place. The facial expression could have been enough to deliver the feelings and the message but there have been voice exaggeration adding to the body language, I am not an actress, no credentials at all to say what is right or not, but as a moviegoer, or rather an audience, you could at least determine what is good to see and hear in a movie. =)
